Par Government Systems Corporation Satellite Communications Telecom Operator/Technician in Chesapeake, Virginia
The Satellite Communications Operator/Technician will be responsible for operating and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on satellite communications equipment and associated peripheral support systems.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Operate various DoD and commercial satellite communications systems
Operate modems and baseband equipment associated with satellite communications
Perform preventative maintenance on electronic equipment
Troubleshoot and repair communications system faults
Prepare written reports as required
Utilize electronic test equipment to troubleshoot serial and IP circuits
Operate power backup systems including diesel generators and UPS
Escort visitors as required
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
Must have a valid Driver’s License with good driving history
Must be familiar with DoD satellite communications operations
Must be familiar with basic computer network operations
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
Must be able to climb and work at various heights on antenna structures
Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather
Must be able to work in small spaces
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
Must be able to work autonomously with little supervision
Must have good oral & written communication skills
Knowledge of U.S. Navy CMS program preferred
Knowledge of U.S. Navy 3M program preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
Required Experience
Military satellite communications SHF or EHF operator course or equivalent accredited college/commercial education required
3 years’ experience in satellite communications equipment operations and maintenance required
High School Diploma or GED required
Active DoD Secret clearance
CompTIA A+ Certifications or equivalent
