Description of Work Unit

Colorado State University is a land-grant institution with a three-part mission of teaching, research, and outreach. The campus is in the city of Fort Collins, the county seat of Larimer County. Fort Collins is a progressive community of approximately 170,000 situated 65 miles north of Denver. The Colorado State 4-H Youth Development Office is located on CSU’s campus in the Extension Administration Office in the University Square Building. 4-H grows young people with essential life skills like confidence, courage, resiliency, and curiosity who are empowered and prepared for life today and tomorrow. What began to give rural youth new agricultural skills has grown into America’s largest youth development organization. Position Summary

The individual in this position will work as a member of the Colorado State 4-H Youth Development team housed on the CSU Campus, Fort Collins. This position provides important administrative type support to the Colorado State 4-H specialists. This person will also provide support directly to the State 4-H Specialists and other State 4-H Office staff as needed. This individual works collaboratively with team members and assists with organization and communication processes. Some travel, weekend and evening work will be required.

While this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, the individual is expected to maintain a balance establishing a presence in the primary office, located in Fort Collins, Colorado, to effectively carry out the duties of the position.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree in business, communications, liberal arts or related field with a minimum of two years’ experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and use independent judgement to coordinate various projects and meet multiple deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally to diverse stakeholders, both written and verbal.

  • Strong computer skills including competence in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new programs quickly.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; Extension will not sponsor a visa for this position.

  • Previous experience creating fliers or other communications using tools such as Canva or similar tool.

  • Experience utilizing Kuali Financial System.

  • Experience serving as administrative support on hiring committees.

  • Experience creating meeting agendas, taking minutes, and preparing minutes for dissemination.

  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, or directs to appropriate contacts.

  • Manage complex calendars to coordinate in person and virtual meetings.

  • Contributes to a team effort by taking initiative to assist other specialists as needed.

  • Previous experience creating event fliers or other communication tools such as Canva.

  • Maintain supplies inventory, ensuring timely orders and verifying receipts.

  • Perform a variety of administrative support functions including, but not limited to, copying, scanning, and mailing.

  • Proofread and complete correspondence and other written materials.

  • Aid in recruitment activities, including posting job openings and coordinating interview schedules.
