Emobility is responsible for the development of electrified powertrain solutions for today and tomorrow. The Emob teams consists of many departments that develop systems and components for the electrified powertrain such as batteries, motors, chargers, high voltage system, and ePTO’s.

Emobility North America is the local development/support office that delivers products for the North America market. Located in Greensboro, the Emob NA team uses deep customer knowledge to break down NA region customer features into technical requirements to feed back into the design. Emob NA supports the global team in the development of the emobility system and is responsible for the performance verification and delivery of the vehicle. As the local front office of Emoblity, Emob NA also assists in cross functional support to educate and prepare other functions in the Volvo group for the electrification future.

Job Summary:

Work within a team of technicians and test engineers to prepare, develop, instrument, & perform a variety of complete vehicle tests. This may include: mechanical labor, prototype development, installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and sensors, setup and maintenance of test rigs, perform tests under direction of test engineer (which will include driving and travel).

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Completes workshop-related assignments to support product development validation engineering activities

  • Applies organized, systematic, and detailed mechanical methods to fulfill goals of assignment relating to vehicle components or systems. Assignments are phases of larger project or lesser complete projects that involve significant repair or modification to vehicles

  • Participates in departmental resource-planning activities

  • Maintains a well-defined relationship with engineering staff including design engineering

  • Ability to identify & Set-up each DAQ system that is needed for each test within assigned department and know how the instrumentation works with the DAQ system.

  • Utilize Strong PC skills - Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.

  • Troubleshoot technical problems

  • Obtain and maintain a current CDL in order to operate vehicle

  • Occasional travel required

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • High School Diploma. Associates required

  • Min. 5 years of truck/trailer service experience

  • 5-8 years testing experience

  • Experience with Service tools and diagnostic equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Bending

  • Twisting

  • Be able to squat

  • Prolonged standing/sitting

Personal Skills:

  • Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck and trailer systems and functions

  • Strong understanding of A/C Systems; complete understanding of AC/DC Electrical Systems

  • Need to be able to identify and set-up DAQ systems that is needed for each test

  • Complete understanding of instrumentation, including accelerator, strain gauges, transducers

  • Strong understanding of strain gauges and strain gauge techniques

  • Strong understanding of Servo Hydraulic Equipment & Load Cells

  • Needs complete ability of troubleshooting technical problems

  • Needs basic understanding of Protus, tech tool, EBD & KOLA

  • Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck and trailer systems and functions

  • Strong understanding of A/C Systems; complete understanding of AC/DC Electrical Systems

  • Need to be able to identify and set-up DAQ systems that is needed for each test

  • Complete understanding of instrumentation, including accelerator, strain gauges, transducers
