Our Rail Infrastructure business is hiring a Head of Project Management Office (PMO) with a national scope ranging from subway projects in New York to mass transit projects with Positive Train Control and high-speed lines. This role will collaborate internally with Project Management, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Finance, having two primary responsibilities:

  1. Lead the North American PMO team of Project Schedulers and Document Managers

  2. Inspire Change and Project Excellence Improvement programs for the US Rail Infrastructure Passenger Organization

We're looking for a hardworking engineer who can systematically lead all aspects of sophisticated problems with an unwavering sense of direction. As an inspirational and motivational person, you will challenge your team to unlock their full potential. In this role, you will handle key support roles for Rail Infrastructure projects for all Railroads in North America, handing over from Sales until the Project warranty has expired.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Showcasing your effective leadership skills: Translate strategic priorities into operational realities, set achievable goals, integrate customer perspectives when setting priorities, and apply an understanding of key market drivers to create & seize business opportunities.

  • Driving Project Management Excellence: Collaborate with the global team to provide direction to the local PME team and continuously improve topics such as resource, cost, and quality management, scheduling, procurement and logistics, and document/configuration management.

  • Overseeing the Project Management Office: Define, implement, and improve global standards for scheduling and document management projects, ensuring their availability according to planned workloads.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • 10 -15 years of hands-on successful experience in rail signaling-related Project Management or Project Management Office roles and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.

  • BS/BA in a related discipline or advanced degree, where required. Certification may be required in some areas. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; PMI/EPMA Project Management Certification would be a plus.

  • Externally recognized technology specialist in the respective field (e.g., Scheduling) who uses their network

  • Document Management and Scheduling - demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills while working under pressure and constant interruptions.

  • Team Management and Development - demonstrating support for team decisions.

  • Financial budgeting and reporting - achieving project budget targets.

  • Uphold quality standards - give informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry and product-related technical information.

  • Ability to travel as required - approximately 25% domestic travel, with an occasional trip to Germany.

This career is based in Pittsburgh, PA. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees, including PTO, 401k match, and tuition reimbursement. The base salary range for this position in Pittsburgh, PA, is $170,200 - $230,300, and the annual incentive target is 20% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
