VOLUNTEER OUTREACH COORDINATOR -- FULL TIME

JOIN THE LOAVES AND FISHES MINISTRIES (L&F) TEAM TODAY!  Make a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness by working at our small but mighty shelter!  We are looking for one employee to work 40 hours per week as Volunteer Coordinator.

A little about us and why people want to work with us:  L&F is a homeless shelter located in the Lansing community.  We provide an emergency overnight shelter and two transitional houses, advocacy and support services for our guests in a non-judgmental and accepting atmosphere.  Our purpose is to serve, not convert, respecting each person's spiritual path.  We genuinely care about our employees and their families, as well as our guests.

What we're looking for in an ideal team member:

• Education:  Associate degree in relevant field preferred.
• *Work availability: * A regular schedule will be set.  Typically involves late afternoon and weekend hours.
• *Required skills: * Ability to use good judgment and remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
• Bonus qualifications:  Management experience with a minimum of 1 year.

What you'll typically be doing:

• Implement L&F's volunteer program, including recruit, screen, train, schedule, supervise, and retain volunteers to meet L&F's evening coverage, meal service, yard work, maintenance, and other general needs. Assist with coverage of volunteer shifts when volunteers are not available.
• Continuously develop, update, and execute L&F's volunteer recruitment program, orientation, and trainings.
• Assist with development of digital print, and social media marketing materials for volunteer outreach.
• Perform and review background checks on potential volunteers.
• Coordinate other volunteer activities/events/endeavors as needed.
• Maintain L&F's digital database tracking volunteer hours, meals provided, years served, and other relevant information.
• Assist Executive Director with volunteer recognition.
• Attend special events, meetings, workshops, conferences, and training opportunities as required.
• Ensure guest confidentiality.
• General administrative tasks as requested by the Executive Director and/or other staff.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

   

Compensation is from $16.00 - $18.00 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience. Ongoing training opportunities available.

Additional Requirements:

• Pass criminal background check
• Valid driver's license

• Must be able to lift 30 lbs. at a time
