Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a full-time, 9-month teaching position in the Social Work Program at Murray State University’s main campus is at the rank of instructor. This professionally qualified faculty member will teach classes and provide leadership to the field education component of the Bachelor of Social Work ( BSW ) program under the direction of the BSW Program Director. The selected candidate will also be expected to engage is service activities as expected of an instructor.

• Teach courses across the BSW curriculum suited to experience and expertise.

• Will be responsible for the field practicum courses for all students. The selected candidate will evaluate, regulate and supervise students through the field practicum courses, ensuring the courses meet all CSWE policies and standards.

• Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential field sites.

• Serves as academic advisor and professional mentor for students.

• Actively participate in committee work, as well as curriculum, professional development, and service to external stakeholders.

• Recruit for the social work program in the region

Minimum Education Requirements:

• An MSW from a CSWE -accredited program is required.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

• Eligibility for Social Work licensure at a graduate level is required.

• Flexibility to utilize different teaching methods: traditional, hybrid, online, etc.

• Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations and ability to contribute to the department and the university’s commitments to inclusivity, equity, and social justice is required.

• At least 2 years post MSW full time experience in professional social work practice is required.
