WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Under limited supervision, perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Typically perform work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. May train or check the work of other facilities staff. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

Position reports to our Pomona, CA Red Cross Office

Pay Information: The salary range for this position is (CA): $26.08 - $27.83/hr.

Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

Standard Schedule: Regular schedule 8am-4:30pm and on call as needed, based on rotation schedule

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD

1: Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities. Correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Paint structures and equipment as needed. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.

2: Repair appliances and equipment. Operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment. Estimate time and material costs of various projects. Requisition new supplies and equipment.

3: Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.

4: May troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment.

5: Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

6.Maintain facility related contracts and renewal of contracts. May also be responsible for maintaining fleet and transportation related

contracts.

  1. Research and compile data and prepare analysis or reports as required. Archive records and manage vehicle maintenance reports. May

    manage invoicing, track rentals and gas cards for the Dept. of Transportation, MVR (background checks for ARC drivers), and maintain

    transponders for fleet vehicles.

    8: Oversee and maintain facility maintenance work-order system to include coordination and timely submission of work orders and provide

    maintenance dispatch for emergency requests (housekeeping, staff requests or vendors). May monitor transportation software, keeping files

    up-to-date and tracking monthly logs.

    9: May perform facility safety and fire extinguisher inspections, schedule fire drills, and maintain safety documentation. May monitor security

    surveillance system, oversee emergency generator, and create/issue security access cards. May serve as member of Facility Safety

    Committee and assist with management of Contractor Safety Program.

    10: Provide administration support to include coordination and preventative maintenance schedules, ordering department supplies, record and

    log maintenance, and coordination and submission of work orders. May serve as backup for receptionist duties, generate accounting

    vouchers, administer facility telephone system, and serve as point-of-contact for cell phone management. May receive regulated supplies

    and handle bio-waste pick-ups, supplies and destruction manifests.

    Scope: Considerable knowledge of job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of general and detailed aspects of the job. Contact with individuals representing other departments and/or representing outside organizations

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

    Education: High School or equivalent required. May require a trade license.

    Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required.

    Management Experience: N/A

    Skills & Abilities: May require a valid driver's license and clean DMV record. Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable. Must have basic writing and communication skills. May be required to have basic computer skills. May have on-call duties. Ability to work on a team.

  • Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

    Travel: May drive vehicle to other locations. A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.

Physical Requirements: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Regularly lift

and/or move objects 10-50 lbs frequently; lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. with assistance or the use of a powered

industrial truck. Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on flat flooring or ramps. Frequently required to stand, walk,

stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close

vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus. Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs.

climbing of ladders for top-level selection.
