Masco Corporation Quality Engineer in Santa Ana, California
The Quality Engineer perform quality design reviews for new and existing products, ensuring the product provides a high level of quality meeting customer expectations. The engineer will put in place a system to measure the department’s performance and report on its findings, liaise with team members and coordinate procedures to address any deficiencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Lead performance improvement projects to increase the company’s capabilities and requirements. Projects may include: process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and throughput analysis, 6‐Sigma, 5S and Kaizen events.
Develop and maintain standardized processes for measuring, reporting, and improving supplier quality performance, supplier auditing, including process auditing and finished-goods auditing.
Establish processes, plans, and schedules to support supplier-proposed process changes.
Develop and implement process performance criteria to evaluate the readiness of new products to move from New Product Introduction status to Sustaining Production status.
Analyze, identify, and establish business process improvements to increase the organizations capability and performance.
Create and maintain company documentation, such as quality manuals and procedures.
Maintain and update supplier audit system and schedules; and conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination and continuous improvement.
Troubleshoot problems or flaws in the product process or methodology to eliminate recurrence of non-conformance.
Collaborate and partner with cross functional and departmental teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Educations and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field; or 4 years related experience in manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
2 years’ experience in manufacturing field.
Experience in defect prevention concepts and SPC
Ability to train and develop teams
Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
Understanding of Project Management
Knowledge of Quality System Methodologies (e.g. 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, PPAP8)
Strong active listening and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in cross functional/departmental teams
Ability to work with a diverse workforce
Advanced MS Excel (VLOOKUP function, Pivot Table, sorting and filtering data)
Microsoft Office applications
English (reading, writing, verbal)
Bilingual preferred (English / Mandarin – read, write, verbal)
- Intermediate math proficiency
Ability to travel without restriction to China, Taiwan, Indonesia as required (25% of the time)
Capable of lifting, up to 20 pounds
Able to work extended hours, weekends or holidays if needed
Familiarity with Asian business culture and practices a plus
Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status
While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer or telephone equipment. The employee will sit or stand for frequent periods.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a warehouse and shop floor environment and an office environment. Will have frequent standing and walking. The ambient conditions in the warehouse/shop floor are moderate, and the noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee will be working near or around machinery.
