Guthrie Pulmonary Function Tech - Pulmonary Function - Per Diem in Sayre, Pennsylvania

Position Summary: Perform diagnostic lung tests and blood gas analysis. To train and supervise respiratory therapy students assigned to the Blood Gas and Pulmonary Function Laboratory. Demonstrate knowledge or principles of growth and development and the skills necessary to provide care for patients in the adult, adolescent, pediatric and geriatric age groups.

Experience: One year of allied health experience preferred, Robert Packer Hospital training will be six to twelve months. Must have demonstrated mechanical ability and be able to make repairs of machinery as determined by past work experience or equivalent.

Essential Functions: Performs all phases of Cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing in accordance with ATS and CLIA 88 Standards. Effectively recognizes equipment functionality status and appropriately troubleshoots said equipment. Provides clinical instruction to Respiratory Therapy students according to provided objectives. Performs quality control procedures and documents results appropriately. Performs patient registration as necessary. Authorized to access medications and storage areas in the performance of essential job functions and duties.

Other Duties: Enters, edits and prints blood gas data using the IDX mainframe clinical reporting system. Collects data from daily activities in the pulmonary lab and prepares charge tickets. Disassembles, cleans and reassembles pulmonary function testing equipment.
