Overview

The Co-Op Non-Field performs technical activities on assigned projects under supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer and/or a Mechanical Designer EIT, including participation in technical studies, investigations, and designs on assigned projects. The Co-Op assists in the production of projects that are on-time, within budget and the utmost quality. The Co-Op is a 3 semester commitment. The student shall work a total of 3 semesters while alternating work and school schedules.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Under the supervision of a P.E. and/or E.I.T, performs evaluations and system calculations including load calculations, ventilation schedules, etc., and contributes to the final project client proposal.

  • Conducts site surveys to determine existing facility conditions with a staff/project manager.

  • Assists in the design team in the coordination with other disciplines.

  • Accompanies staff/project manager in performing project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes.

  • Assist in preparing punch lists and project observation reports to note findings.

This position is Full-Time, Non-Exempt.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Must be a student at an accredited University pursuing a major in engineering.

  • Requires the student to work through the University's Cooperative Education program or similar program if the University has a Co-Op program.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast paced environment.

  • Well versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.

  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements

  • 10-15% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Climbing stairs.

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

  • Quiet environment.

  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
