Annual Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000 (position will be hourly, paid bi-weekly)

SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Marketing, under general supervisions, is responsible for elevating, implementing and managing a creative and comprehensive Marketing program that communicates and promotes Campus Recreation’s mission to the University community. This position maintains responsibilities related to program implementation, and personnel, budget, project, and brand management. This position reports to the Associate Director.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruits, hires, trains, mentors, educates, processes biweekly payroll, and supervises student staff, including graphic designers, marketing assistants, and photographer/videographer

  • Develops marketing strategies and campaigns to successfully market Campus Recreation as well as serves as the liaison with university Marketing and Communication to create and maintain a unified, consistent department brand identity for all facility signage, messaging, marketing, printing, displays, and postings

  • Utilizes project management system to manage the entirety of project, digital, and print lifecycles

  • Utilizes Adobe Creative Cloud or other design and photography/videography editing platforms to create compelling graphic design concepts and themes to communicate specific marketing and communications messages to various audiences

  • Maintains familiarity with all departmental programs and services and updates all communication resources accordingly

  • Oversees the content, design, maintenance, and performance of department website within the university’s web content management system (Word Press)

  • Directs the design, procurement, production (including final-product proof) and dissemination of all marketing collateral, apparel, and promotional items

  • Oversees social media initiatives including conceptualizing, creating, scheduling and producing shareable content across multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, and future platforms)

  • Monitors media coverage, google alerts, social media outlets, and customer feedback in order to track mentions and public perception of the department

  • Documents departments events, employees, projects, etc. through photography and videography as well as maintains a searchable, accessible, and easily-navigated repository

  • Works with several platforms to deliver marketing and brand identity efforts (Google Business, Fusion, Manesync, Localist, Reach Digital Solutions, and Neptune Radio)

  • Initiates and/or assists in increasing department visibility within the university and community as well as leading department involvement at campus orientations, information fairs, and other campus events (Family Weekend, Mane Event, Admitted Students Day, Homecoming, etc.)

  • Oversees the marketing budget, including student staff payroll, advertising, promotional items, and printing

  • Assesses, analyzes, and reports on the effectiveness of marketing content and targeted promotional efforts

  • Coordinates with the Campus Rec Leadership Team on department emergency communications

  • Assists the Associate Director with delivering the department program schedule

GENERAL DEPARTMENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing an environment where people feel welcomed, valued, supported, and respected as they work to pursue their academic and professional goals

  • Support and align with department mission, vision, values, and strategic plan

  • Assists with department events and programming as needed

  • Serve on department committees, and collaborate with other Campus Recreation program areas and campus partners

  • Work night and weekend hours as needed

  • This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Recreation, Kinesiology, Sports Management, Higher Education or degree related to position.

  • Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Two years of experience in marketing in a collegiate, community, or private setting (undergraduate, graduate assistantship, part-time, and internship work are accepted as half-time)Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum experience requirements

Example: Master’s degree and no years of experience.

Experience in organizing and delivering social media content through various professional social media and scheduling platforms

  • Student staff including graphic designers, marketing assistants, and photographer/videographers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
